Videogaming culture is a more exaggerated reflection of modern society. People are allowed to socialise in very similar ways as reality, talking to each other, conveying emotions such as anger, sadness and love. In some ways it is just a simple extension of our normal social life, yet it comes with its demons. The ability to create a false identity, seems to create a surreal environment to be in. It eradicates any form of racial and ethnic diversion yet creates a sense of anarchic freedom.
Participants can trash talk, abuse and cheat whilst playing video games and get away with it, unlike the real world. It removes peoples awareness of social respect, and creates a very volatile location for people to be involved in. The unfortuante truth is that people can get away with terrible actions which would be normally be punished in real society. Conflict is rife and there is very little policing around these social circles of the internet. Despite this present problem the culture of videogaming is on the rise. IN recent times, developers have attempted to broaden the target market of computer gaming, introducing family gaming and party games, aswell as providing safety filters. You can rarely speak to anyone in the real world without them being aware of games such as guitar hero. Every culture has its positive and negative factors, yet the gaming industry appears to be embraced by modern society and is a growing phenomenon.
