People say creativity is being crushed by the current economic climate. There are increasing time constraints for artists and coders alike to develop an idea to its full potential. Due to the lack of time to fully develop ideas and concepts properly, the definition of creativity can be seen to be the release of new, original and intelligent concepts. They may not have been developed to their full capabilites, but their fresh originality seems to captivate the audience measurably.
The idea of creativity being something new, begs the question when does something stop being creative? is creativity a temporary state? If an old gaming title such as 'Halo: combat evolved' was once seen as creative when it was first released, is it still creative now despite have several successors which have been constant improvements. The mechanics are still fundamentally the same, but improvements in aesthetics, sound and gameplay have progressed over the years. What makes the next title any more creative than the other? From this we can gather than creativity is seen as something different. Aslong as the next product is an advancement or change of direction from a previous item, it can be perceived as being spawned by
creativity.
Change is creative. Any form of attempt to solve a problem whether its improving visual aesthetics, improving gameplay mechanics, completely changing direction of genre, it shows developers are using their creative instincts to design something better than what was their before. Is this desire for improvement a facet of human existence. Is this why
the human race has hurtled to such an advance way of life in such a short span of time. Creativity has acted as a driving force for our entire existence and is clearly still an ever present force, its what makes us and everything around us, better.
