Sewn from the Soul - Literary Character

"This is the genesis of a genius.
We were sewn from the soul and the streets are our seamstress.
Effortlessly sewing the seam to our sartorial dreams...
Of Double-cuff pants, a shawl neck sweater and bow ties,
tied with swag seem so much better. We refuse to fit
the stereotype, generalizations or mold.
Remain sedentary without ambition and become something
repugnant like mold.
No!
Rather, we adroitly craft our futures with needle and thread
and surpass the statistic of 'at twenty five dead.'
Creating alterations to a past and present of struggle and tribulation.
Tailoring these garments to fit unique style, character and life.
Pay homage to the men of old, with their style so cold.
We proudly present you with Sewn from the Soul."
-Joekenneth Museau

Joekenneth is a poet involved with an online fashion editorial known as 'Sewn from the Soul' the reason I have chosen him for my Literature project is because his words offer more than just descriptive behaviour they offer an insight into the motives and personality behind the imagery. Also the Editorial offers a large range of photographs which relates to the dramatic reading by Joekenneth which provides me with a wide range of starting points and reference material.

In the end, I decided upon creating the younger character from the editorial as it emulated the essence of the poem, in particular "pay homage to the men of old, with their style so cold" which suggests to me that the character should be dressed much wiser and sophisticated than is suitable for their age, which is why the child is the perfect expression from this text.
